Outdoor events – balloons, face painting, wind and sun

Spring is one of the nicest times to be in San Antonio, TX! Because the weather is so nice, people are starting to have a lot of their events outdoors. Here are a few things to consider if you plan on hiring our entertainers at your outdoor event.

  1. Texas is WINDY! Wind picks up light objects (like the awesome balloon creations we can make) and tosses them onto the ground. Balloons do NOT survive most impacts with the ground, and there is often a lot of tears when this happens. SOLUTION – bring some extra trash bags to place the balloons into. You can also elect to put the balloons into the car/truck you came in.
  2. Heat is another problem for balloons — and balloon artists, and people waiting in line for balloons, too! Our balloon artist and face painters prefer flat, shady spots to work in, and your guests will appreciate it, too.
  3. Wind also tends to dry out the paints our face painters use. This causes them to stop and add moisture to their palettes, which slows them down a bit.
  4. Also, our balloon decorations do very poorly when placed outside in the Texas sun and wind. Columns and arches oxidize quickly under these conditions, and the balloons look “faded” or “washed out”. Bright sunlight causes the balloons to expand, with a lot of them popping as a result. And of course the wind can make a real mess out of any outside decor, especially arches and helium balloons on strings.
